Some hands on fun

A few fun things are happening soon...

Monday, September 10th I'm holding a My Digital Studio information night. I'll be showing you on the big screen what MDS is, what MDS can do and how to do it. There will be samples to see of things I've made using MDS. If you have NO idea what you would do with a digital crafting program, or if you have SOME idea, or even if you've already bought it and want some hints...you'll get your chance to learn it. It's FREE to come and have a looky...so why don't you.

Christmas cards on Saturday September 29th. Come on over and we will make a stack of gorgeous Christmas cards! Lots of new goodness from both new catalogs and lots of beeyouteefulness. Let's get a jump on the holiday season before we get even busier!

I still have a couple of spots in my Nov16-18th scrapbook retreat. You can come scrapbook, make cards, read a book, paint your nails, go for a walk...whatever tickles your fancy, but you'll be doing it in a gorgeous relaxing place!! Email or call me for more info.

Something pink is happening!

So the girl in this video just looked like she was having too much fun ( she also looked too nicely dressed, like her house was too beautiful and clean, that her home accessories were too matcha matchy, her computer desk was too uncluttered and her kids were not dirty and loud, but that's not the point today). Because I wanted to be like her, I asked my little sister if she would please have a baby so that I could throw her a baby shower and have fun like the girl in the video.

I guess that's not exactly how it went down. But, she did have a baby. A beautiful one.

And now my other sisters and niece and I are throwing her a shower. I downloaded the Hello Baby Emsemble kit (126159) for My Digital Studio and went to work -- although of course I use the term 'work' purty darn loosely.

I won't show you my finished pieces yet, you'll have to check back later this week to see those...but here's a peek...

OH MY Golly GEE Whizzikers - - I think I just managed to put a VIDEO in my blog!!!!! Did I? Did it work? Oh boy! I'm so excited!!!!!!!! There might be hope for me yet!!

Ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon,

My favorite accessory? Ribbon. Fo sho. Straight up. No dowt. I love it, and even though every once in awhile, a diff ribbon will catch my wandering eye...I LOVE the ribbons that Stampin' Up! Offers.

Recently I spent the day measuring, cutting, sorting and preparing ribbon shares for customers. I'm not joking, it took a long time, I played four Netflix movies while I was working to keep me company!

What's a ribbon share? Instead of buying whole spools of every color ribbon, your awesome demonstrator (that's me, I'm awesome) buys it all, and splits it up into reasonable amounts of ribbon and you get all of the colors.

Most of them are spoken for,but I still have a couple of the Ruffled Ribbon (my current fave! Holy moly is the Island Indigo ever beeyouteeful! I hadn't seen it in person before...I feel like I've been missing out!) shares left. You get: 2 yards of each of five colors Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade) for $16 (plus mailing if needed).

Do ya wanna be in the club?

It's fun! It really is!

Just allow me to illustrate a lil picture here if ya will. Your work day was the same as yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that and the, ok, I guess my pictures getting a little boring, sorry....you get home from work, the kids are fighting, the hubby wants to be fed---a meal with real MEAT in it if you would--the phone is ringing, they can't find their left hockey glove, the cat is hawking up a hair ball by the sink, someone left their Math book at school and there's a big test tomorrow, the Hydro bill was due yesterday, you're out of milk....then you pick up your purse and say, "see you later, I'm going to Stamp Night!" and walk out the door.

Of course it's not like that for everyone (but if it's not like that for you, I don't want to hear about it today), but hopefully you got my point?

You need to do something for you!
Regularly!
Something fun!

I'm kicking a$$ and taking names, wait...no, I'm just TAKING NAMES for Stampers Club starting in September. The basics go like this... Once a month we get together and make some pretty stuff (usually about 5 projects). I come up with the projects and I bring everything you need to make it, you try to remember to bring scissors and adhesive. You giggle, chat with other crafters (or you may prefer to bond with the non-craftys--we've got those too!), complain about having to tie a ribbon on the card, eat some chocolate or other tasty treat that you didn't have to prepare, hand over a bit of $$ and go home all relaxed and happy like.

Right?
Doesn't that sound nice?

So the cost is $15 per month, or spend $20 (or more, not including tax etc) on merchandise from the catalogues each month. Your choice. And I need you for ten months. It works for me in all the 'behind the scenes Stampin' Up! Stuff that you don't need to worry your already busy self with ways' to have ten people per group for ten months. You can sign up with a friend or two if you like, or just join an existing group of fun-havers. I've got a few options for you as far as when it's all gonna go down. I'm a 'third Tuesday or a second Wednesday of the month' kinda girl, meaning it's always the same each month so I can schedule it. I like schedules. For you this means you'll always know when it's going to happen, but I can't guarantee it's going to be on the night that the cat barfed, or you ran out of milk, or that the hockey equipment was missing. Sorry. I can also offer a daytime group if there is enough interest (which is ten people if you were paying attention!).

Oh, I forgot to tell you...there's free stuff in it for you too! But I doubt you're interested in free stuff so we will move right along...

Email me valeriemccallum@hotmail.com if you want some more info, or you just want in, but please...don't dawdle too long, as mentioned--I'm a scheduler and I need to get scheduling. And in the meantime, have a looky-loo at some of the things we've made at Stamp Night in the past...

Reward Offered!

So it's possible that I've mentioned once or twice that I'm not very good at blogging. I'd like to take a minute here to explain something about myself to you though. Usually, I will not let a computer get the best of me. I've also always been a lil bit proud of myself for teaching myself just about everything there is to know about...ok, rephrase...everything I know about computers.

OK. That wasn't completely true. Back in University (early 90s) I took a Computer Programming course that rocked my world. We were learning a computer programming language that was unlike anything I'd ever done before in my life. I even learned how to make a video game!!!!  The idea of the game was that you could either make a dot blink inside a circle, or outside a circle. And oh boy, was it ever exciting! I could hardly stop playing that thing. Maybe that's why that was the end of my computer programming career.  You'd think I'd be able to make some text blink on this blog, wouldn't you?

I guess when it comes to blogging, I've just got a bad attitude for learning. I'd rather show  you pretty stuff I made down in my stamp room than sit here and waste time swearing at    getting more familliar with my computer.

So, I need a widget/gadget/thingie that goes at the side of my blog that would link people to my events page on my Stampin' Up Demo site http://valerie.stampinup.net  KWIM?  Would anyone like to make one for me and tell me how to put it there? I will brighten your mailbox every month for one year with a beautiful stamped creation for your troubles.

And now that you've read through all of this BORING stuff I would like to reward you with a few pretty ideas:
This was a card I made for a swap awhile ago and I broke out the old Glitter Window technique. Wowza, that brought back some memories! Talk about an oldie but a goodie!
Ha! I made this Tassimo holder for my sister for her birthday, but then it ended up being so much work that I didn't give it to her! I showed it to her and told her how special she was, and took it back. Oh boy.
And this, as you can see it not a Stampin' Up! project, but it brought me alot of joy and I thought maybe, just maybe it would bring you some joy as well. I saw it at the International Peace Gardens and loved it. It is my dream that one day one of my children will make me one. I love Hens and Chicks, don't you?

World Treasures

I'm lovin' the new set World Treasures (126765 w or 126767 c). It's got this purty flower image and lovely phrase, but also the prettiest lil peacock!  I'll admit that not much makes me pull out stamps and stuff in the summer months, but this set did...I couldn't wait to play with it.

I also used some new colors, like Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals, as well as the new Designer Series Paper Patio Party.

It's also a darn good way to use up the small scraps of DSP that you don't want to throw away. All I did was trim some of the ends, and run a couple of them through embossing folders. I love how it turned out.

It's also the end of my post, since I'm out of things to say that start with Also.

Later. (also,)

31 Days of Digital

Get 31% off 31 digital content options and most of our print products for all 31 days in August! Feed your My Digital Studio addiction. Not into it yet? With digital goods on sale and a new software that you can try for FREE with the 30-day trial, August is the time to see what it's all about!   What's on sale?

ALL cards, photobooks, individual pages, and tags.  That's right: print any photobook, board book, swatchbook, individual pages, greeting card, postcard, trifold card, or tag-all for 31% off.
Some of our best digital content.  30 downloads and 1 content disc. Yup, that equals 31. Ask your demonstrator what made the list, or take a look at the Stampin' Up! Online Store on August 1 to see what's on sale.

What you talkin' bout Willis?

My Digital Studio (forever after known as MDS, since I've typed my quota already today) is Stampin' Up!s digital scrapbooking program. You can sit on your couch and scrapbook right on your computer, without having to dig out paper and glue and tools and photos. Your pictures are on your computer or a disc already, right? Or if they're not, you know that they probably should be, right?

Ya, then what?

Then you can either send your finished pages, or your finished album to Stampin' Up!s printer (and if you were paying attention you'd have seen that even THAT service is on sale in August) for them to print on their beautiful quality stuff and ship it all to you in one lovely box. You can have them print individual pages, or beautiful bound professional looking albums of YOUR size choice.

Or, you can print off the things you make yourself and take credit for the whole darn thing.

Or, you can just make digital albums and tell people to look at them that way.

Or, I am sure there's other stuff too...I don't know what though, I'm just learning too.

Is that all you've got?

As a matter of fact, no, it's not.  MDS will do lots of stuff for you, it will make your Christmas cards, or baby announcements or party invitations or it will make you beautiful Calendars with or without the pictures, gorgeous journals, little board books....lots of stuff like that.

Really? MDS will do that for me?

Well no, but I'm really glad you're paying attention. YOU can do that stuff USING MDS.

You can find out pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about digital papercrafting here http://mydigitalstudio.net/   This site is amazing, but just don't get overwhelmed by the beautiful things those teachers pets are making there.

Here's some real live things that I made. I'm not an expert at MDS, but like I said, I'm learning.

seriously? Spiders and Mummies with Googly Eyes?

Hey? Did you see the new kid in town? No? Well then, did you see the new holiday mini catalog?  It starts today! Wait, that didn't have the right amound of enthusiasm attached to it.

IT STARTS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and if I were good at this blog thing, which as we all know, I AM NOT, that text would be blinking right now too)

Seriously you guys, there is just so much goodness in this little catalog I can't believe they've managed it!  Like what, You say?

  • Well, all of the framelits are just blowin' me away....A stampers two wishes: 1) to not have to struggle with tying bows and 2) to not have to cut anything out. Sorry, I can't help you with number 1 yet...but ooooh baby, they're sure trying to help us with Number 2!

  • There's snowflakes!!!! and Snow People!!Need I say more?!

  • Pretty Paper, Printed tags, COOKIE BOXES! Embossing powder that smells like Peppermint Sticks?!

What is red, ruffly and purty all over?

Ooooh. Isn't it purty? It is very heavily inspired by the new Stampin' Up! catalog, but that's what it's there for. After all, it IS called the Idea Book & Catalog, right?! In fact, you should use it more for copying its beeeeautiful ideas. I've got some extras of the new catty on hand, so if you be needing one, just give me a holler.

I'm mailing this card out today's to the girlies in my monthly 6th Swap, so if that's you...erase this post from your mind and be surprised in a couple of days when you see it in your mailbox!-

This card uses a set that I feel like I'm always pulling off the shelf-- Elements of Style (118611w or 120045c). If I have a stamp set that needs to be called an old stand by, I guess this would be it.

Also making an appearance in today's feature presentation: Real Red, Old Olive, Pool Party and Very Vanilla card stock; Soft Suede classic ink;and a whole lotta fun accessories--First Edition specialty Designer Series Paper, Pool Party ruffled ribbon, Champagne Glass glitter, Beautiful Wings embosslits, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Vintage Wallpaper textured Impressions embossing folder, 1 3/8" scallop circle punch.
